My name is Matt Akre, founder of Akre Construction Group, a Family owned and operated General Contractor in Arvada Colorado. Construction is in our blood, its the only thing we know how to do other than Real Estate (another family business). From the time I could walk I was following my larger than life Father (he's the guy with the hat in the picture above) around the house "helping" him with projects. I had my own little tool belt for my little hammer and my nails. My father would throw me a piece of scrap 2x4, a hand full of nails and my hammer. I would sit there and try to drive them into the wood while saying "hammer nails, hammer nails..." over and over and over again. It might have been the early introduction to tools and construction that got me started on the trajectory I am on now or it could have been the job walks with my father, who was a top tier Superintendent in the fast pace word of Commercial Tenant Improvement in the California Bay Area.

Either way, my path to starting ACG was not your normal one. Starting as a Carpenter's Apprentice for a few years, then moving into HVAC and achieving the goal of becoming a licensed Mechanical Contractor while working as an Electrical Project Manager, Designer and Estimator then shifting my focus back to General Construction. Over the last 17 years, I have had the pleasure of building or renovating Senator's Offices, Historic Courtrooms, Scientific laboratories and cleanrooms to working on spillways as well as residential projects ranging from large custom homes to modulars. 

This is where, "If your can dream it, we can build it." comes from.
